The maths and code behind living systems

You may already have met some of the basics in earlier courses, such as R in Biostatistics. Here you build on them to create your own models, from step-by-step thinking to a population model. Pick your own route through each week. Everything is free to use, unless it shows a lock.

    Choose your route

Each week is split into knowledge bits: one idea at a time. Every bit has core material, other ways into the same idea, and a quick check. Each week ends with a short quiz.

    Open by default

Almost everything is free online. Items with a lock, mostly textbooks, are not open access. You can usually borrow them from the university library, and each week also has an open alternative.

    Learn your way

The checks and quizzes have no marks: they are just for you, and your progress is saved on this device. Videos, readings and interactive tools explain the same ideas in different ways, so use what works for you. Use the Aa button to change the font, text size, spacing or page colour.
